With a dense and long grey dorsal fur and white underside, the Alpine Long-eared bat has a characteristic hard triangular spot on its lower lip. 

It is known to inhabit a variety of habitats but appears to favour mountainous and karstic areas. Summer roosts tend to be located in attics, while caves and other underground sites are chosen for winter. 

P. macrobullaris is still relatively unknown.

Geographic Range

P. macrobullaris has been recorded in the Pyrenees, the Alps from France to Slovenia and the Dinaric Alps. It also occurs in Greece (including Crete), Syria and from Anatolia through Caucasus to south Iran.
