Type of event:

Educational,
Exhibition,
Media Event
Event presence:
In person

During the Bucharest International Bat Night Event, which starts at 20:00 on the 24th of August, you will be able to learn about the biology of bats, how they communicate via echolocation, how they feed, roost and reproduce. A small presentation will take place in a conference room at the “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History, where you can also see some naturalized bats in their artificial roost. Stickers and flyers will be available for all. After the presentation, we will take a short break and regroup outside, in the museum’s yard, where we will start searching for bats with ultrasound detectors and lights. This special place is full of bat colonies that have roosted in the old trees and bat roosts for decades. The animals are returning from the maternity period and are beginning to swarm, teaching their young ones where to hibernate, but also starting their mating season.
