First BRESCIA in Summer Bat-Night QUARTIERE LAMARMORA
This event is the first concrete Summer approach to the knowledge of bats in the town, a necessary condition to debunk commonplaces and stereotypes about these flying and nocturnal mammals. Dr. Vincenzo Ferri, engaged in research and conservation projects, will illustrate their extraordinary eco-ethological characteristics, show which species live in our environments, indicate threats to which they are subject and the mechanisms that each of us can implement to protect them. In the evening, from 9.00 pm instead an appointment along urban park and roads of this side of Brescia, to try together with the expert the direct observation and recognition of the bats that frequent the town, with use of flashlights, but above all of electronic instruments, bat detectors, capable of capturing and allowing us to hear ultrasonic emissions of bats. Ultrasounds that allow them to fly at high speed even in the deepest darkness, avoiding obstacles and catching the small prey they eat (especially flying insects). h. 8.00 pm — Meeting at the Civic Audiorium. In flight with hands: our bats (Dr. Vincenzo Ferri). Informative lesson for all. h. 9.00 pm— Walk in the Town listening to and observing the bats - First Summer Bat Night in Brescia: through an easy route in Quartiere Lamarmora and the use of bio-acoustic detection equipment (bat-detectors) and powerful flashlights, Dr. Vincenzo Ferri will allow us to turn our ears and eyes towards the secret world of bats. In case of bad weather, virtual tour research: ultrasound detection, analysis and recognition of different species of bats. All with projections and videos.
