The EUROBATS Secretariat is pleased to announce that Ms. Zrinka Domazetovic has been appointed as the new Executive Secretary of the Agreement on the Conservation of Populations of European Bats (EUROBATS). She will take up her new position on 28 October 2024.
Ms. Domazetovic has 20 years of experience in biodiversity conservation policy and its implementation. She has worked in the ministry responsible for nature protection in Croatia, for over a decade as a Head of Service for Biodiversity. She is experienced in implementing international policies and EU legislation on nature and species conservation, transboundary movement and trade in wildlife and invasive alien species.
She has been a national focal point for the CITES Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, the Bern Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats and the EUROBATS Agreement, as well as a Head of National Delegation at the conferences and meetings of parties to these multilateral agreements. She has represented the Republic of Croatia at the European Commission’s committees and expert groups on CITES and invasive alien species.
Ms. Domazetovic has been working on drafting and implementing national legislation for the implementation of CITES, EU Wildlife Trade Regulations and EU invasive alien species legislation. She has an extensive experience in preparing training manuals and delivering trainings to the enforcement authorities in the region.
Prior to joining the EUROBATS Secretariat, she was the Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee, Vice-Chair at the 8th Meeting of Parties and Chair of the 9th Meeting of Parties to EUROBATS.
Ms. Domazetovic is a graduate of the Faculty of Science of the University of Zagreb in Croatia, holding a master’s degree in ecology.
