Research of the climate of the Uvir cave (Bosnia) as a basis for the protection of the largest colony of the Western Barbastelle bats in the Dinarides, 2022

 Data loggers have been installed that measure temperature and humidity along the cave where bat colonies hibernate, which like cold and warm conditions during the winter: Barbastella barbastellus (colony of 263 animals), Miniopterus schteibersii, Rhinolophus ferrumequinum and Rhinolophus euryale. The activities in the Uvir cave that were started with this project will be continued in the coming years.

A regional meeting of researchers, bat workers and bat friends from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina was organized. 19 presentations were presented that show activities on research and protection of bats in the region. During the meeting, a visit to the Uvir cave was also organized.
