Species details:
Charaterized by its large, individual ears, the Hemprich's Long-eared bat has a wingspan of 420mm and a fluffy light-grey fur.
The species is adapted to arid habitats with little vegetation. It tends to inhabit wadies and roosts in both crevices and cracks in buildings. A rather solitary species perhaps due to habitat conditions.
O. Hemprichii forages close to the ground and locates and identifies its prey (scarabeid beetles, spiders, scorpions and chafers) not only through echolocation but also by closely listening to its sounds.
