The Egyptian Fruit bat has a fox-like face, small ears and a wingspan of 485-640 mm. Typically, its tail membrane is short and its fur is light brown.

Distributed throughout Africa south of the Sahara, Egypt, Cyprus, the south coast of Türkiye, the Near East and the boundary regions of the Arabian Peninsula to Pakistan and northwest India.
Egyptian Fruit bats are regarded as a pest by fruit farmers and are often targets of poisoning attempts.
