The Slovenian Association for Bat Research and Conservation
(SDPVN) prepared a large event in 2004, as European Bat
Night lasted for 7 nights and days! This year, we are happy
to say that many joined the event: The Škocjan Caves
Regional Park organised the events in Divaca and Škocjan,
Museum of Gorenjska organised the children workshop in Kranj.
We are thankful also to many others, who enabled various
events, especially “Center Evropa”, Caffee “Plocnik”
and “Colnarna” in Ljubljana and ZIK in Crnomelj.
Activities were organized in five cities of different regions
in Slovenia: in Divaca, Škocjan, Kranj, Ljubljana and
Crnomelj, which involved a lot of people. Also the media
paid a lot of attention about the event, with many articles
in the newspapers and shows on the radio.
We prepared lectures with slide shows about bats and evening
walks with bat detectors. In Ljubljana and Crnomelj, photo
exhibitions of bats were put up. There were artistic workshops
for children, followed by playing a game “how bats
catch moths”. In Divaca elementary school, children
drawings of bats were exhibited.
In Ljubljana, one of the biggest events of EBN was also
the announcement of the winners of the artists, which participated
in SDPVN’s competition “Catch the bat onto the
whiteness of paper”, which was aimed at the best original
comic story about bats.
