The bat-nights in Austria, organised by the Austrian Co-ordination
Centre for Bat Conservation and Research, have been very
successful both in terms of the number of people attending
and by the interest and feed-back received.
The bat-nights were held in four different counties. The
visitors learned a lot about bats and their secret life,
talks, live bats, and films were presented. Special children’s
programmes including games and handicraft were highly appreciated
by the young guests.
The event aimed at providing facts about the life of bats,
at highlighting the reasons why many Austrian bat species
are endangered and at presenting possible conservation strategies.
Because of the great success we are looking forward to organising
more bat-nights in 2004, providing even more opportunities
for people to attend.
