The
European Bat Night was organized by the Lithuanian Government
in the first weekend of September 2001 in Vente Cape (the
most western place of the Lithuania on a bank of the Curonian
Lagoon, about 50 km to south from Klaipeda). All the Lithuanian
TV companies, including commercial ones, took part in the
event that reported about the second European Bat Night in
Lithuania up to the end of the next week. At least 7 reportages
ranging from 2 up to 5 minutes were demonstrated by different
TV companies in Lithuania.
Moreover, Dr. Pauza and other regular members of the Lithuanian
Society for Bat Conservation gave a number of interviews for
different radio stations, newspapers and public journals.
Based on this, it is possible that a huge part of Lithuanian
population was well informed about European bat problems and
EUROBATS Agreement. Surely this European Bat Night had a very
important influence for speeding the ratification of EUROBATS
Agreement in the Lithuanian Parliament.
