The second European Bat Night was held at Pissouri Beach on 12 August. Some people had traveled quite far to attend. Kuhl’s pipistrelles put on quite a show, swooping overhead. Cyprus enjoying a warm climate throughout the year, many of the attendees were used to seeing bats flying around their gardens, but they were most excited to hear the amazing loud clicks and plops using bat detectors.
There was the opportunity to give information and answer lots of questions about bats. Several said that a detector would be on their Christmas wish list.
