Description:
The Environment and Resources Authority, in collaboration with Heritage Malta and the National Museum of Natural History are organising, as part of the European Bat Night initiative, 4 Bat Nights during the summer of 2018. The dates for these events are 6th July, 3rd August, 7th and 28th September. During each event participants will get to know more about the bat species found in the Maltese Islands, their habitats, pressures and threats and the conservation status and measures being taken to maintain through an interactive presentation and a bat observation and hearing session. Additionally there will also be a bat trivia exhibition for the events being organised at the National Museum of Natural History.
Greenhouse Malta is a local environmental ngo in its tenth year of operations. We are currently engaged in citizen science research projects on bats and orchids, as well as putting effort into science communication and policy reform. We are very excited to invite you to our project launch event for Akustika: a national survey of Maltese bats! Please join us at Vilhena Band Club in Floriana from 7pm onwards to hear about our organisation, the project and learn about the 10+ species that occur on Malta! A talk will be given by GH member and researcher, Elena Portelli, who will also lead us for some bat watching later on in the evening. You can also learned how to be involved and even become a citizen scientist helping us collect data! As always, this event is free and we humbly accept donations. :)
